The fact-finding committee in its final report has submitted that a third person appeared in the FA examination in his place’ Sharif told a crowded press conference here Wednesday.Though Nawaz Sharif did not name the person who took examination in place of Haji Pervez, the circumstantial evidence suggests it was none other than the outgoing legislator’s own nephew, Bilal Javed.He said the MNA was asked to resign as this is a question of morality and rule of law. He said the decision of the party and the MNA was reflective of desire to promote healthy tradition and clean politics. He said there should be rule of law and the constitution. ‘These are the objectives our party is striving to achieve and only such approach can resolve the problems facing the country,’ he remarked.He said he believed in politics based on ethics and principles as positive politics cannot be pursued without ideology. Answering a question, Mian Nawaz Sharif said he would ask the Punjab Chief Minister to take action against all officers involved in the.Responding to a question he said there was little progressowards implementation of the provisions of the Charter of Democracy.He said there were still some judges of the Superior Court the appointment of whom was against the spirit of the CoD. He also pointed out the two parties had agreed under the CoD on a procedure for appointment of judges through a public hearing. ‘Mr Zardari is also committed to that. I do not know why this delay is taking place.Nawaz Sharif said the repeal of 17th amendment was inevitable for the bright future of the country.He said progress on these matters was not satisfactory, but despite that the PML-N was cooperating with the PPP led Government in the larger interest of the country.He said his party would continue extending cooperation to the Federal Government without joining the Cabinet.Replying to a question about Balochistan problem, the PML-N leader said it was responsibility of all patriotic people to help remove irritants that are being agitated by Baloch people.He said the PML-N had already written to the Prime Minister urging him to convene a national conference to discuss the latest security environment and chart out a consensus course of action to tackle the serious situation.
Sharif said he was concerned about the plight of the people leaving Swat due to law and order problem. He said he would ask the Punjab Government to provide every possible assistance to the NWFP and Federal Governments to provide relief and ensuring rehabilitation of the displaced people.Indirectly criticizing former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, he said those who defaced the constitution and caused loss to the national interest must be taken to task.He rejected the assertions that Pakistan was a failed state. He said it was true that constitution had been abrogated and independence of judiciary was taken away in the country, but it was not a failed state. He hoped that such violation of the constitution would not take place in the days ahead.Answering a question, he said he was not eyeing the Prime Ministership, Presidency or any other high office. He said his focus was on the problems facing the country and the way forward to resolve them.It would be a big service if we succeed in guaranteeing integrity of the country. Politics is not all about protection of self-interests. We believe in the politics of serving the masses and regard it as worship,’ he remarked.
